Open Reviews

POOMS Open Reviews enables openness and transparency in the peer review process through our Post-publication Open Reviews and our Chronologically Published Open Peer Review Reports. Practically, this entails the collection of review & response correspondence between reviewers and authors during the peer review process and publishing same alongside the published full manuscript.

Why Open Reviews?

Peer review histories are a core part of the scientific knowledge development process, and in their own right constitute valuable research output that are of immense developmental value to authors during the review process and also to the scientific community after the research has been published.

Benefits of Opening Your Reviews

Show the Impact of  Reviews on Your Science

Acknowledge the contributions of review feedback, exchange and discussion to your research by openning them to the wider readership and making them easily accessible as a permanent component of your study's scientific record.

Deepen the Comprehension of Your Science

Enhance and deepen the scientific insight your science contributes by providing not only your perspective, but a diverse range of supporting and contrasting reviewer perspectives.

Deepen the Contextualization of Your Science

Open up the diverse concerns raised and addressed in reviewer comments and authors responses during peer review to further contextualize your study and shape the contextual underpinnings of its impact.

Maximize the Credibility of Your Science

Maximize integrity and trust by providing evidence of the rigor of the peer review process. This also enhances the validity and credibility of your study in its entirety.

Optimize Reviewer Accountability

Maximize reviewer responsibility by making them accountable for their review comments and minimizing reviewer bias. This awareness that peer reviews may be made public enhances reviewer responsibility.

Help Develop Future Scholars

Contribute to the development of future scholars, as published peer review reports and histories serve as valuable examples students can reference on in deepening their understanding of what the scientific review process entails.

How POOMS Open Reviews Work

While there exists a diverse configuration of Open Reviews models within the larger Open Access publishing space, for instance the anaonymous peer review, signed peer review, anonymous and published peer review as well as the signed and published peer review models.

At POOMS Publishing, in addition to our post-publication open reviews model, we use a mandatory signed and published peer review model. This is because at POOMS Publishing, the value of our novel management research publication model hinges on the maximization of both practitioner-relevance and scientific rigor and for the latter to be sufficiently implemented, peer review reports, comments and author responses during the peer review process must be published. Therefore, our signed and published peer review model is automatically activated once a manuscript is submitted. Submitting an article to any POOMS journal implies consent to having the manuscript's review report histories and its associated author responses published.

This opening of the peer review process deepens the integrity and credibility of the peer review process and provides a broadened set of insights and perspectives to the larger scientific community.

Embrace Openness. Embrace the Future.
